Who is your Father?
"Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you."
Whilst each one of us have a biological earthly father, Jesus, born of a virgin, had no earthly father. His Father was God the Father, who, by the Holy Ghost, planted a seed inside Mary who brought forth the Saviour of this world, Jesus Christ.
As with an earthly child, that child has the genes of the father in them - as the saying often goes, ‘like father like son’. And so it was with Jesus, the Father in Him and He in the Father, brought to life by the work of the Holy Ghost - much like the work of the Holy Ghost at our salvation when He baptises us into the Body of Christ, making us alive in Christ, one with Christ, us in Him and He in us.
And now we can come to our heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, crying Abba Father. We are now joint-heirs together with Christ of all that the Father would give to His Son. We now have eternal life and access by His divine nature to the promises of God. Through the spirit of Christ now abiding in us and us Him, we have been given all things pertaining to life and godliness. How amazing is this!!!
Consider how children often banter with one another at the local school playground, always trying to outdo one another, saying, ‘do you know who my father is’, or, ‘yes, but my father is much stronger/better/richer’ and so on.
But, no matter how strong, rich, loving and or powerful an earthly father can be, God the Father is all powerful, all loving, all knowing and in fact owns and inhabits not only the universe, but eternity - not something we often stop and think of or in fact can even understand the magnitude of.
So, with a Father like this, let us never be afraid and or anxious about anything; because we are of God, little children, and have overcome all things: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.
