Let the Lord direct your paths
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
So a new year has started. What is it you have planned? What is it you want to achieve this year? No matter what it is, we each need to firstly trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding; and, secondly, we need to acknowledge the Lord in all our ways and He will direct our paths.
When we do this, not only will we have divine direction from God Himself, but we will be going beyond our understanding as we trust wholeheartedly in God’s plans and not in our own plans.
All too often we rely on our own understanding. Our own plans are many times limited by the things which we see or know. But, we are encouraged not to look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporary; and the things which are not seen are eternal.
So today, may we each be encouraged to ask God for His wisdom and His understanding as we journey through this year. May we always remember to store up for ourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where our treasure is, that is, where our plans are, our ambitions and goals, there will our heart be also.
