Where is your trust?
"He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion."
As we look around today it is apparent that there is nothing on this earth in which we can place our trust. Think about it for a moment, governments are failing the people, businesses are relentlessly pursuing profits at all costs, economies are crumbling and the earth is filled with violence, hatred and bitterness. Man has certainly corrupted all of God’s ways, just as in the days of Noah.
The forecasts for the year ahead are mostly negative and point to a tough year ahead with economic activity slowing down substantially all over the planet - many predicting hardships ahead. So, in these times, where will our trust be?
But thanks to the grace and mercy of God, we are able to trust in the Lord and enter into a rest whereby we need not fear nor be anxious for anything. You see, it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes and or in the systems of this world.
Today some may trust in the economy, in business or in political parties, but, may we each be encouraged to remember the name of the Lord our God. May we each say “In God have I put my trust, the Lord is on my side: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.” And then let us simply believe this in our hearts and confess it with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and that He is touched by our infirmities, attentive to our needs and is interceding for our every need all of the time.
So, be encouraged not to look to man or the things of this world, but to look to Jesus and the things of heaven - for he will never leave us, forsake us and or allow us to be measured passed that which we can endure.
