September 2015
Congratulations to the
U.S. Department of Labor on an impressive report
detailing the worst forms of child labor last year. Deputy Secretary Chris Lu announced the report today, along with a new
mobile application, Sweat & Toil.

It was a once-in-a-generation moment when world leaders gathered at the United Nations in New York this month to adopt the Sustainable Development Goals, a new, universal set of priorities to end extreme poverty and tackle climate change by 2030.

Winrock's Bikash Pandey blogged about Cuba's tasty transformation: los paladares. Pandey was in Cuba recently as part of Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson's trade mission to the Caribbean country.

September was Arkansas Volunteer Month. Thanks not only to our Winrock staff at headquarters who sorted and boxed food at the Arkansas a Food Bank, but also to our Farmer-to-Farmer team in in Myanmar, who delivered food to those affected by recent flooding there.

Also, a big shout out to Winrock's volunteer of the month for September: Dr. Joe Sullivan. He has volunteered several times with Winrock’s USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer program, completing two assignments this year alone. Read more in our Winrock Volunteers blog.
