Motorcyclists Fighting Blindness
2021 has not started out well in many areas, but our optimism will not be squelched.  We're blessed to have so many dedicated Volunteers, Riders and Friends in the Ride for Sight family.  Because of your efforts in 2020 Vision Research continues to move forward, and you can find all kinds of exiting news on the Fighting Blindness Canada website.
If you were a 2020 Ride for Sight Fundraiser, we thank you for your patience, all awards have now been sent out, if you did not receive yours, please give us a call 1-800-461-3331 Ext. 224.  We hope no one will be offended by the unique Year Bar we had made this year - just a little biker fun - and we thought we needed something different and special to commemorate your extraordinary efforts of 2020.

High Miler T-Shirts have all been sent as of this week!  Once again, we can't thank you enough for your efforts in 2020, you and your Donors did not disappoint!  Some of our High Milers have been doing this for 10, 20 or more years, and this year we had some shiny new High Milers also!

We'd love to see you in your gear, and show you off, so when you wear your gear - please take a selfie or pic and send it to

Sad news from Newfoundland & Labrador - long-standing Ride for Sight Volunteer and Fundraiser, Marina Hoskins of Lethbridge passed away peacefully with her husband Wade by her side in January.  We know Marina will be missed by all her Ride for Sight teammates and many many of the Ride for Sight Riders.  Our sincerest condolences go out to Wayde, and all Marina's family and friends.

The Ride for Sight 2021 ONLINE FUNDRAISING website is now up!  This is a great free tool, especially during these social distancing times, that allows you to easily post your request for donations to your Facebook page, and to send personal email requests to your friends and family.  You can even drop in a few of your personal pictures.

When your Donors donate, you receive an email to tell you who has made a donation, and your Donor immediately receives their Tax Receipt via email (for donations of $20 or more).

Do not be intimidated by the sample page above, Alberta Rider Jerry Kubik has been at this many years and holds the Top Canadian Fundraiser for 2 years straight.  He fundraises on behalf of his granddaughter Rose, who is pictured in 2007 with Jerry, and now as an awesome Teen.  Whether you raise $100 or $10,000 for vision research, your efforts are needed and will be appreciated.

You can get more info on your ONLINE FUNDRAISING website at, or give us a call if you need some help 1-800-461-3331 Ext. 224.  Motorcyclists Fighting Blindness have made a difference in Vision Research, and continue to do so!  Whether you can enjoy a Celebration or not, we appreciate your fundraising for the 43rd Annual Ride for Sight.  It's an exciting time for us, we are seeing so many research projects coming to fruition, treatments are being developed, and in some cases - sight has been restored.

Even though the situation across Canada is still unsettled, the Volunteer Team in Ontario has decided to move forward with plans for Ride for Sight #43, August 13 weekend in 2021, in beautiful Fenelon Falls, Ontario.

At this time, like last year, we will be proceeding with a plan to take "100" Pre-registered Riders into the Fenelon Fairgrounds at Fenelon Falls in the Kawartha Lakes.  We are hopeful that the province will stay open enough for us to do this safely, as we did in September 2020.

If the province opens up even further than it was in September last year, we will open up further spots at the Celebration, while following all local and provincial health restrictions - to keep Riders, Friends, Volunteers and the local Community safe.  Spots will go quickly based on last years enjoyment factor, pre-register now!

Once again the decision to move forward with a Ride for Sight Celebration in Fenelon Falls August 13-14, 2021 has not been made lightly by the Volunteer Team, and will not take place without a lot of extra planning and execution components.  We've been in contact with Ride for Sight Friends in Fenelon Falls, and they are eager to welcome the Celebration.

The HKPR District Health Unit region is currently in Covid-19 Colour Code - Yellow.  We will, as usual, work with all of the community influentials, from the Municipal Offices of the City of Kawartha Lakes, the Mayor of Fenelon Falls, the HKPR District Health Unit, Kawartha Lakes OPP, Kawartha Lakes FD, etc. to address any concerns they may have.

Follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on the Celebration!

43 years later...
We're still here, our mission is not complete.  But now each year we are moving faster and faster towards
the cures.  Now we are hearing about and even seeing results.  Because of research funded by Canadians
through Riders and Friends of Ride for Sight, Scientists have a clearer understanding into many of the causes
of blindness, needed treatments are being developed, and in some cases - sight has been restored.
