     College Update
Despite the chilly weather in Michaelmas Term the College offered a warm welcome to students and their families for the second  Students and Parents Dinner. The guest speakers this year were Christina Koning, (1971) novelist and short story writer, who has reviewed extensively for the UK national press; and Dr Neil Jennings (1999), Assistant Editor for the journal 'Global Environmental Change' and environmental entrepreneur! Both provided great insight to their lives since leaving Girton. The cold snap did however prevent the annual Alumni Rugby and Football fixtures being played, despite the lack of matches there was a  great turnout for afternoon tea in the College bar  and  a lively dinner was hosted in the evening. The matches are scheduled to be replayed  on Saturday 12 March, please do get in touch if you would like more details, alumni@girton.cam.ac.uk. In December the Mistress, Prof. Susan J Smith, gave the 2010 Tanner Lectures at Clare Hall. A video of the lecture, "Care-full Markets: Miracle or Mirage?" is available to view online.
