The Power of the Gospel to Transform Lives

April 5, 2012

Dear <<First Name>>,

We are so encouraged by the response to our call to prayer for our ESL (English as a Second Language) training that we held at New Life Church in La Mesa on March 23 & 24! Kristy Holliday did an excellent job leading the training, and my teammate, Ray Call did an outstanding job organizing the event. Read more here…

Now we are gearing up for the actual ESL classes to begin. The ESL ministry is an outreach initiative with Harbor Mid-City church. The classes will start next Friday, April 13. The plan is start with two levels of English proficiency. We already have more than four teachers! That is one of the needs we've been praying for. Ray is coordinating the ESL ministry, and eventually we'd like to turn that over to someone at Harbor.

We pray that the Lord will use this outreach to be a blessing to the community, and as a way for people to come to know Christ. Harbor is working with Ray to invite friends and promote ESL. Pray with us that a good group shows up to the classes as we begin. God has blessed us with some talented and loving teachers to minister to those that come.

One huge need we have is that we are still trying to figure out how to handle childcare. Some times it's the little things that can make or break a ministry. Thanks so much for standing with us in prayer!

Family News

Thanks for praying for our family:

— David - Pray for David's knee - he tore his meniscus. His plans this summer. He plans on doing an internship with Harbor and BEAMM this summer. We are excited to have him work with us!

— Jonathan - Jon is planning on staying in Colorado when we move. He has some options on places to stay. We pray that the Lord will open up the best for him.

— Hannah - She is graduating on May 12th. There is much to do in preparation for our last child to graduate from high school.

— Family - More people are looking at our house, and we are getting more positive feedback. Pray for our patience as we look to the Lord for His perfect timing with the sale of our home.

Isaiah 61

Our Prayer for the Border:
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good new to the poor, he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfor all who mourn.
