❀ Happy Spring!
APRIL NEWSLETTER
Give STL Day is May 3rd, 2016!

Give STL Day is a 24-hour giving event that helps our local nonprofits.  The St. Louis Community Foundation is once again joining hundreds of community foundations across the country for the biggest day of giving in history.

Last year the Center raised $5,000 from this event. We hope to beat that this year and we are grateful for your participation!

HAPPY NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK!
Our volunteers truly keep CWIT alive. Their time, skills, and compassion are invaluable to us and the clients. We want to take this week to extend our thanks to all of our volunteers: board members, mentors, anyone who gives and sorts donations, volunteers who help with the Gala and around the office. The Center is so grateful to you!

 Special Shout Outs:
The Center would like to thank Mikael Johnson of Union Pacific Railroad for his service to  our clients. He has assisted them with job readiness skills, mock interviews, and even attended a Saturday gathering with the women. Thank you Mikael for your hard work!

The Center would also like to thank Charlee McBride, MPS of the University of Missouri Extension for being our nutrition guru at Schirmer House. She teaches our Schirmer House clients about diet and nutrition. Thank you Charlee for your time and expertise!
STAFF
Last month, much of the CWIT staff attended the 2016 STAR Summit. STAR, the St. Louis Alliance for Reentry, is a collaborative network that aims to enhance ex-offender self-sufficiency, reduce recidivism, and improve public safety and community health in St. Louis City and County. Staff who attended learned valuable information on various topics from esteemed speakers.

Staff also learned about trauma informed care at a training given by Alive and Well STL, which provided valuable information about how trauma affects the brain and how to rethink our approach to individuals with trauma-induced needs.
