55th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express
Thursday 20 October, 19:30
Don't miss the world premiere of the BFI National Archive's new restoration of The First Born. The sex lives of the upper classes come under scrutiny in this sophisticated melodrama, a tour de force of late British silent cinema starring Miles Mander and Madeleine Carroll. Alma Reville (Alfred Hitchcock's wife) worked with Mander to adapt his own novel and play.
This new restoration includes reinstated missing footage and the reintroduction of a beautiful range of tints.
With a new score by Stephen Horne performed by the composer, Janey Miller and Martin Pyne.
