Comfort & Joy at The Minster
We are really looking forward to our magical 'Comfort & Joy' concert at the Halifax Minster this Saturday 10 December!
Audiences can look forward to enjoying music from the award-winning Bradshaw school choir and local Elland Silver Youth Band. The band recently reached the finals of the European Championships this year in Birmingham.
Soloist Alexandra Wilkinson, Rotary Young Musician National Finalist will also be singing crowd-pleasing sounds of Christmas. And alongside Calderdale’s local talent, the Minster’s own choristers will be filling the Minster with their good cheer.
Calderdale Councils own choir will also be there. The choir recently performed at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in the Piece Hall and is made up of Elected Members and Officers of the Council

Volunteer of the year nomination for Claire!
The annual Community Spirit Awards were held on Thursday 24th November with one of our truly amazing volunteers, Claire Gibson, up for an award in the Volunteer of the Year category!
Claire was nominated for the award this year in recognition of the amount of time and quality of service she has given to our charity over the past six years.
She has been involved in practically every part of our organisation; developing and delivering workshops for Time Out and the Recovery and Support service, leading walks across Calderdale and befriending throughout the Covid pandemic.
More recently, she has taken her experience to another level with a leading role in the production and delivery of quality training for our new volunteers – an exciting progression and a challenge she has scaled with ease.
Despite holding down a full-time job, Claire uses her own experience of anxiety and depression to help, support and listen to others in the very little spare time she has.
Her determination to ‘give back’ to the community that has helped her, touching so many lives in the process, has been exceptional and we are very proud and grateful to have her on our team!
Claire didn’t get the award this time around but in the eyes of her fellow volunteers, Healthy Minds staff and service participants she is every bit our winner!
Well done Claire and Thank YOU!

Healthy Minds hits the airwaves!
We are excited to announce the development of a new Healthy Minds Radio show on local community radio station Phoenix FM!
We will be broadcasting our two hour show live from the Phoenix studio every four weeks on Monday afternoons.
In the first half of the show we invite guests to join us for conversations about issues around mental health. So far we have explored topics such as community responses to health inequalities, looking after wellbeing in winter and suicide prevention in Calderdale.
The second half of the show offers an opportunity for people in the Healthy Minds community, particularly our volunteers, to take the helm for the 'sharing hour' in which they can share music, words and anything else in audio form!
If you are interested in getting involved in our radio show, please get in touch!
Maybe you have a topic you'd like to be discussed on the show, you might know someone who could be a good guest, or you may want to come on the show yourself... just pop Georgia an email: georgia@healthymindscalderdale.co.uk
Our next show will be on Monday 19 December, 12 - 2pm, where Ian and Johnathan will be broadcasting a special two hour sharing extravaganza! They'll have a mixture of live music, talking to musical guests about how they use music to support their mental health. Listen live on Phoenix FM on the day of the show!
