The Great Get Together in Hebden Bridge

Time out was invited to The Great Get Together in Hebden Bridge and a fantastic day of fun was had by all ages.

Nikki, Tara and Vinnie had fun at the fair at Hebden Bridge’s Great Get-Together, a yearly event in memory of MP Jo Cox. Fancy dress proved almost too popular an activity, with the Time Out stall inundated by both adults and children vying for the chance to wear a Daenerys Targaryen wig or run amok as a badger. Huge thanks to Vinnie, Nikki’s nine year old, who took charge of the tech and handed people instant photo print-outs of their garish get-up.

We spoke to a lot of families and our wacky photo booth went down a treat – as you can see from some of our pictures.

We even got to meet the Mayor of Hebden Bridge ❤  Reach4Ward ran this event in memory of Jo Cox and it was an amazing day that we were lucky to be a part of.

Here’s a flavour of the day:

Network Meeting in Halifax Library

We were so excited to welcome back our local partners to the first face-to-face Time Out network meeting since the pandemic struck. The theme of the meeting was young people and loneliness, a growing and still overlooked issue. It was good to discuss opportunities to work together across Calderdale to provide more support and activities for our children and young people. Many thanks to Halifax Central Library for hosting us!

If you are part of or know of an organisation that provides any sort of support or activity for young people, do contact to join our network.

Education for better mental health

Our work in schools has been busy, delivering new sessions around sleep and self-esteem and a six-week creative wellbeing course focusing on friendship.

Don’t forget that Time Out delivers free workshops around mental health and emotional wellbeing to both primary and secondary schools, and partner organisations too. Please get in touch on the Time Out email to book us in for the new school year!

If you are 18 or over and have experienced tricky times with your mental health, might you consider putting that experience to valuable use and volunteering with Time Out! Please contact Tara on / 07985 750589 for an informal chat and to find out more.
