|New Year, New Change?
We as a family have been praying about a huge change in our future. We are now inviting you to pray with us. Here's the deal. Cody is 13 years old and in 8th grade. We are planning a 9 month home assignment starting this June. Once we return to Indonesia February 2011 and Cody's finishes up 9th grade, he will have 3 years of high school left.
In helping prepare him for life in the USA we are sensing a need for him to be in a school situation with other Western kids. After considering several options that has school for Cody and ministry for us we believe that a move to Western Papua, Indonesia is the right choice. Several months ago we presented this to our leadership team. Ultimately the decision comes down to what we believe is best for our family. We have been in contact with the leadership team in Papua and they are ready and willing for us to come help in the ministry there.
What ministry would we be involved in? From the beginning of our time in Indonesia we have been involved with training Indonesian missionary candidates. The broader scope of this ministry has been partnering with the Indonesian church to reach its own tribal people. This will still be our focus. There is a need for two families to be specifically involved in relationship building and partnership encouragement with the church of Papua. This ultimately will result in a continuation of helping/training Indonesian missionaries. This is the ministry we have enjoyed for many years now.
Will this be an easy move? Not at all. This has been “home” for us for just over 16 years. We have great friends here. This is the only home Cody and Cheyenne have known. It is never easy to move and this will be no exception. So PLEASE PRAY for God's direction. We have not made the final decision but want to in the next couple of months.
In the process of decision making, we think it would be profitable to make a trip to Papua. This is not an absolute “have to” but it would give all of us a chance to see the school and the town we would be living in. We would like to do this near the end of February or early March. Pray for the Lord's direction, timing and provisions if this trip is to be made.
In our next update we will share about some of our home assignment prayer needs. We continue to value your partnering with us in the ministry of expanding the reach of the gospel through out Indonesia.
