Bridge Development Corporation Ribbon Cutting
The Cleveland-Bolivar County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Bridge Development Corporation Mississippi Friday, July 15. The Bridge offers day services for adults, seniors, and veterans living with disabilities. After delivering similar services in Texas, Dr. Deirdre Williams and her husband, Jay, decided to expand their reach to their home state of Mississippi. Together, they have transformed an old warehouse into a space specifically designed to improve the mental, spiritual, and physical health of individuals with disabilities; they will also deliver instruction on real-life skills. To learn more about this mission-driven corporation, please visit https://bridgedevelopmentcorp.org/. We are excited to have The Bridge in our community!

Industry to Industry Meeting
The EDF hosts quarterly industry-to-industry meetings and all Chamber of Commerce members are invited to attend the next meeting.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 23 at 3:30 pm at the Cleveland Central Career Development and Technology Center. The CDTC offers 11 programs for students including a new Lodging and Hospitality Management program in 2022.
Members are invited to tour and learn about each of the 11 programs. Instructors will meet with members to share about their programs and support needed from the local business community. Each program is looking for internship and employment opportunities for students in year 2 in their field of study.
Instructors of these programs need local employers to provide feedback on the skills students need for the workforce. You can provide this feedback on August 23 and volunteer to serve on an advisory committee for an individual program to give guidance to the instructor throughout the year.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles in Downtown Cleveland
On Friday, July 29, Team Cleveland Main Street attempted to host its first Planes, Trains, and Automobiles event in downtown Cleveland; however, the event was canceled due to inclement weather. Team Cleveland Main Street would still like to thank its partners in this initiative, with featured vehicles from the City of Cleveland Public Works department, Fire department, Police department, and partnered with the municipal airport and Delta State University’s department of Business and Aviation. Additional vehicles were provided by members WADE Incorporated, Security Services, and Bolivar County Emergency Operations. Other sponsors for this event include Clark Beverage and the Martin and Sue King Railroad Heritage Museum. The event was also scheduled to feature food from Delta BBQ and Catering, as well as vehicles from the DSU Bass Fishing Club and the Delta Classic Auto Club. Deep Roots also provided live music on the back porch of the Chamber.
In advance of the event, Team Cleveland pushed the “Show me your receipts!” promotion, in which event attendees could shop local the week of the event and redeem their receipts for free wristbands to Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
