Hi <<First Name>>,
The autumn brings me both joy and reflection.
Leaves dying - the color of blood
The wind blows them away - as if they never existed.
Roots, bark, and sap remain - unapologetic in their wabi-sabi existence.
We remain remembering, reflecting, and waiting for spring and renewal.
Hope embodied.
The joy I share with you today is in renewal.
The Get What You Need performance support residency is starting again and it is truly a magical experience of supporting and helping each other engage with art and our community.
The reflection and sadness I share is the passing of an old friend and collaborator - Tigre Bailando. I heard about their passing last week and I am still processing their spirit, their unapologetic way of being in the world, and their amazing way of bringing communities together. Rest in power, my friend.
As a person, I try to skip winter (both figuratively and literally). I hate the cold so much, I hate the dying, the waiting, and the process of hoping for renewal. Tigre's passing has been a wake-up call that waiting, processing, and being quiet are important. The process of renewal is a process of remembrance a process of saying your goodbyes and bringing with you the best of your past experiences.
I hope you all in this email chain have the ability and time to slow down to process to grieve the passing summer or the people who have gifted you with much but are not around anymore.
I leave you with a tiny beginning of spring. Get What You Need residency is happening again this year and there is an open call. Please, share the news with the artists working in performance in your life.

GWYN 2022/23 OPEN CALL.
Get What You Need a.k.a GWYN is an 8-month-long artist-led support residency for movement artists working toward a public sharing of some kind. A public sharing is a performance, ritual, online event, gathering, or anything else you can envision that relates and engages people with your artistic process.
Through monthly meetings with the GWYN consortium, public showings, shared accountability, and a large support system, two artists based in and around Philadelphia will be chosen to participate in GWYN.

This is an email only to people living in Philadelphia. I have many more things to share with all of you but will do that in another email addressed to the whole international email list.
