Knowledge of climate patterns is critically important for a variety of resource management issues, including groundwater and surface water development and protection, controlling and eradicating invasive species, protecting and restoring native ecosystems, and planning for the effects of global warming. Resource managers, climate researchers, educators and students have a powerful new tool with the launch of the Hawaiʻi Climate Data Portal (HCDP).

Joining the Data Revolution: Big Data in Education and Social Science Research Workshop | June 6-17
Applications are open for the Institute for Research on Innovation and Science's summer introductory-level workshop for researchers in education and social science fields (ESS) interested in gaining experience working with large-scale restricted data. The goal of the workshop is to increase the ability of participants to define and develop projects that will result in competitive proposals that might be submitted to NSF or other funders. A secondary goal is to support a community of researchers who can share information, tools, and insights to help strengthen research and teaching capabilities involving large-scale data analysis in ESS fields. The virtual workshop will run from June 17. The application and a full description are available here. Please contact IRIS Managing Director Nancy Calvin-Naylor at nbirk@umich.edu with any questions.
