Winter is a challenging time for the UK’s hospitals, bringing with it an immense amount of pressure on resources and staff. With yesterday marking the first day of winter, Sam Gallaher, Executive Director for Skills for Health takes a closer look at how e-rostering can help hospitals combat the strain.

Greater support needed for all who care for dying patients

The BMA has called for greater support for doctors caring for patients at the end of their lives, however, it is not only doctors who care for patients who are dying. Ian Wheeler, Head of Research and Evaluation emphasises the need to recognise the importance of the support workforce alongside physicians.

New Learning Disabilities Core Skills Education and Training Framework Launched

In July 2016, Skills for Health, HEE and Skills for Care launched a comprehensive new resource. The LD Framework sets out the essential skills and knowledge to support health and social care staff and educators in the UK who work with people living with a learning disability.
