In just over a week, the Vancouver Asian Film Festival invites you to get a double dose of culture with Dancing and a Movie. And what’s more, as an official BC Culture Days event, it’s all FREE!
Co-presented with the Vancouver Blues and Fusion Dancers and The Blues Cafe, the afternoon starts at 4:15pm with a social dance lesson (no partner necessary!) where they’ll teach you some great slow - and fast - dance moves to impress any partner in a fun and friendly atmosphere. At 5pm, The Blues Cafe will host two hours of dancing, where you can practice your moves and make new friends on the social floor guided by their volunteer dance ambassadors. The evening culminates at 7pm with VAFF’s free feature screening of local filmmaker Jeff Chiba Stearns’ award winning local film One Big Hapa Family - winner of Best Documentary at the 2011 Trail Dance Film Festival and Best Canadian Film or Video winner at the 2010 Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival - followed by a Q&A Session.
It’s all happening Sunday, September 28th at Ache Brasil Capoeira on Broadway and Kingsway. Learn more and follow us for updates on our Facebook event.
