Seven Intel® Core™i7 Processor-Based Modules Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) announces seven embedded products based on the latest Intel® Core™i7 processor (Press Release). With several important new features, the latest Intel Core i7 processor is extremely well suited to compute intensive embedded computing applications:
The processor has an integrated DDR3-1066 dual channel ECC SDRAM controller. Previous generations of Intel chipsets have the SDRAM controller in a separate Northbridge. By tightly coupling memory and processor into one unit, greater memory bandwidth and less latency is achieved.
The processor has an integrated high-performance graphics core with 2 display outputs. This saves both real-estate and power.
The processor has an integrated x16 or 2 x8 PCIe controller. This interface can be utilized for high-performance graphics or other I/O.
The 32-nm manufacturing process and improved micro architecture offers significantly greater performance-per-watt for embedded applications.
The X-ES products based on the Intel Core i7 processor support the Intel Core i7-610E, i7-620LE, and i7-620UE processors. In addition to the XPedite7370, three Intel Core i7 processor-based products are shipping today. All feature conduction and air cooling, 8 MB NOR flash, Gigabit Ethernet, USB, NAND flash, DVI graphics, audio, dual channel DDR3, SATA/eSATA 3.0 Gb/s, serial ports and software support for Wind River VxWorks, QNX Neutrino, Linux, and Green Hills INTEGRITY Board Support Packages, as well as Windows drivers.
