The XCalibur4640 extends the XPedite7670 to a 6U VPX form factor and expands on its capabilities. The Xeon® D® processor's memory capacity increases to 16 GB of DDR3-1600 ECC SDRAM and two additional 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces are added.

X-ES Intel® Xeon® D products come standard with the coreboot boot loader, powered by the Intel® FSP. coreboot firmware provides enhanced boot speed and security, and enables sub-three second boot times.

coreboot is minimalistic boot firmware for a variety of types of processors. On Intel® architecture-based processors, it is an alternative to UEFI and legacy BIOS boot firmware.
