April News

Spring greetings!  I hope this finds you well.  I am grateful for you for receiving my email!

I am thrilled with the response to my new mosaic works in Terminal 1 at Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport.  I'm grateful for this article by WFMZ News which highlights my new works.  You can read it here.  The works are in the permanent collection, so the next time you're passing through MSP, be sure to look for them in the Ticketing & Departures level!

If you find yourself in the La Jolla, CA area May 15th and onward, you can see my work at the Athanaem Music & Arts Library.  My paintings will be part of a group exhibition titled Marking Time: What Athenaeum Artists Create in Quarantine, along with 46 other inspirational artistsThe exhibition runs from May 4th-July 9th.
Art in Motion

For the past 6 months, I have had the wonderful opportunity to mentor 18 interns in Central Minnesota.  These interns worked on developing their creative practices and building a professional creative community within their cohort at  Art in Motion.  Upon the conclusion of this program is an exhibition of student work from April 13th-May 2nd at Art in Motion on the Lake Wobegon Trail in Holdingford, MN.  I hope you'll visit the exhibition and appreciate the work of these committed and fearless artists!  Also, please see this article in the SC Times about the program and exhibition!  I am so proud of each of my interns!
Exhibition at Art in Motion

In addition to the student capstone exhibition at Art in Motion, I will also have an exhibition of my own opening in May.  The installation of Tyvek® paintings that are site specific and inspired by the space and work I have done with my students over the last several months will suspend and cascade down from their 20' ceiling in the center of the space. Please join me for the opening reception on May 8th from 4-6pm.  The installation will remain on view until June 6th.  There are also beautiful biking trails and a nice café, making for a great day trip from the Twin Cities.
Sister Kenny Art of Possibilities

Along with my co-chair, I am happy to serve as an Honorary Chair of the 2021 virtual 57th annual Art of Possibilities Art Show & Sale.  The event provides a forum annually for nearly 200 artists with disabilities to sell their work, promotes the talents of artists with disabilities, and creates a cherished and inclusive community event for people of all abilities.  It is an honor to serve with my Co-Chair Anthony Zeremba (pictured) who has participated in the Art of Possibilities Show & Sale for the last 25 years.  Please support the artists!  The show opens on April 21st and 6pm.  To learn more or view this show, please visit www.courageart.org.
The Bravo Effect

The amazing Dr Lisa Bravo's new book is launching!  Dr. Bravo is a good friend and an incredible therapist who’s therapeutic approach is profoundly impactful!  Dr Bravo commissioned me to create an artwork for the cover.  The artwork is based on a poem Dr. Bravo wrote entitled SEE me ANYway.  I was very moved by this poem and Dr. Bravo's work with youth. The book is available on Amazon here.  Ultimately, you will want the hard cover.  I highly recommend it!

Heartfelt thank you for receiving my news, I’m grateful for you.
