Did you know that the biblical word for God, Elohim, is actually a title and not a name? And did you know that "Elohim" can refer to other spiritual beings as well as to the creator God? In this video, we explore the biblical terminology for spiritual beings and how this helps us understand what the Bible means when it says that “God is one.”

Did you know that The Bible Project has a podcast?

The Bible Project podcast consists of deeper theological conversations between co-founders, Tim and Jon, inviting you to explore the biblical theology behind each animated video and series they create. Listen on Spotify, Google Podcasts or Apple Podcasts.

COVID-19 Support: We're all in this together!

As we enter the new stage of lockdown restrictions, we would like to reach out and check on our church family. How is everyone doing?

Under the latest restrictions, there may be some families with no one working/getting a paycheck at the moment. If one of our families or someone you know runs out of food or necessities or times are just tough, please PM me or anyone in church leadership and we will offer support. If you need someone to talk to and pray with, we’re here.

What’s understood never has to be explained... We're here as a church family to love and support each other in tough times. No one has to get through it alone. And we have His promise to be with us always, even to the end of the world (Matthew 28:20).

Sign up for Chatswood's Fellowship Time

Chatswood Church’s Fellowship Time is a time where one-to-one virtual connections can take place to support each other and our families, outside of our weekly eChurch gathering.

The program stopped last year when COVID restrictions eased, and now we are considering starting it again should the church family be interested.

How does it work?
You will be paired with someone from the Chatswood SDA church family.
All you have to do is coordinate a time to give that person a call. You can ask them about their week, talk about what’s going on in their lives and pray together.
Pairs are re-shuffled automatically each fortnight.
Chatswood Church plans to coordinate this activity while eChurch and social distancing measures are in place.

If you are interested in opting in to the program, please fill out the form on this web page to opt-in to the program. If you were part of the program last year, we ask you to opt-in again so we know you remain interested in participating.

Please note we will assess if we have enough people before we get started, and will update the Church family once we’re ready to begin.

Weekly Prayer Meetings

We would like to invite everyone who has a heart for prayer to join our Chatswood online prayer group. We will have a quick study of the Book of Daniel followed by a time of sharing and prayer.

When: Wednesdays at 8:30pm
Where: Church Zoom (view above)

Everyone is welcome!

🙏 Prayer

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

God, thank You for guiding me. I’m so grateful that I don’t have to navigate life on my own. As I wake up each morning, I ask that I will be overwhelmed by Your perfect peace. I trust that no matter what, You will order my steps. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Special prayers for the COVID-19 Pandemic
Guide us in the path of discipleship, so that, as you have blessed us, we may be a blessing to others, bringing the promise of the kingdom near, by our words and deeds.

  • Pray that we will be sensitive to the needs of others in our community who are continuing to suffer additional stresses because of the impact of the Covid pandemic. Pray especially for younger Australians who are facing mental stress that they will find the help they need. Ask also that God will give us ways we can show His love to those around us.
  • Pray for all our Church families who are living in the main areas of concern, that they will be protected from the Virus and show us all how we can be of help to them.
  • While many in our communities are rejoicing as they enjoy some new found freedoms, pray that we will all continue to act with caution to reduce the risk of further outbreaks. Remember all the workers in the health system that are continuing to work tirelessly that they will find rest and strength for each shift they undertake and pray for protection for their own families.
  • Give thanks for the increased uptake in vaccinations and pray for all that is being done to share accurate information in the community.
  • Pray for great wisdom for our political and health leaders, that decisions they are making will be what are best for our nation and will also receive community support as some of the restrictions are being eased. Show all of us as Australians how we can work together and support each other. Pray that there will be strong cooperation between all states and territories that they will be able to work together for the benefit of all Australians
  • Pray for those who are from areas of our community that are under-represented in terms of access to vaccines, that these gaps will be filled. Pray, too that wealthier countries will recognise the needs of those in poorer countries who have quite limited access to vaccines and will share from the abundance of vaccines they have
  • Pray that the logistics of the delivery of vaccines throughout Australia will run smoothly and the accompanying advertising program will be successful.

General prayer points for this week

  • God, thankyou for showing us what love is by sending us Your perfect Son to earth to save us.
  • Praise God that many members of our Church family have, in the past, shared some of the things God has shown them through their life experience in our Service on the first Sabbath of the month. More recently members of our Church family have shared a brief, recent chapter in their walk with God. Ask God if you should share any of your recent experience(s) with Him in this way.
  • Pray for Nathan, Dean Marshall’s workmate, who worked on the renovations downstairs in the Church recently and had a bad workplace accident. Pray that his recovery will be complete and rehab will progress well. Give thanks for those who have reached out to help him and minister Your love to him
  • Pray for Leah’s nephew, Matthew, whose mum we recently prayed for as she contracted Covid while pregnant. She made a recovery, but Baby Matthew has some issues and has remained in hospital for further treatment. Be with the family as they wait and comfort Leah as she is so far away
  • Give thanks for those who developed the programs for our recent “kids’ service” and show us how to continually minister to our younger members and encourage them. Pray that children will continue to be involved in our Church’s worship programs and we will all be blessed by their contributions. Give thank for those who are involved in nurturing our children in this way
  • Pray for Maxine that the issues that have arisen after her recent surgery will be quickly resolved
  • Pray for Boriss’s relative, Zac who works at Loma Linda and is receiving treatment for heart issues
  • Pray for Peyton who is receiving treatment for his back, and for Sean Pennington as he recovers from the injury to his shoulder- give them both patience as the healing continues
  • Pray for continued healing for Jodi and that she will receive the right treatment at the right time- Guide us also as a Church family as we stand in support of them. Give thanks for Jodi’s mum, Beverley in the UK who was taken to hospital recently that those issues are being addressed. Pray, too, that she will receive the guidance she needs re housing
  • Pray for all others in our Church family, especially those facing stresses of various kinds that we might all know that you are the God who cares and we might be able to support each other in prayer.
  • Pray for Paul Stewart that his treatment will bring about improvement in his health. Comfort him and grant him patience as he receives this care
  • Give thanks for those who are recovering from health issues, that they will know Your healing touch.
  • Pray for the Kooke’s and their wider family and give thanks for the way many issues have been resolved. Pray, too, for Willem, Simone, Amelie and Madeleine as they “minister to them at a distance”.
  • Give thanks that the Kooke’s neighbours reached out to them with assistance while the repair work to their home was being done.
  • Pray for other Church families who have recently moved as they settle into new communities and others that are looking for new accommodation that they will be guided by you as they search

Holy, holy, holy God, fill us with strength and courage, with discernment and compassion, that we may be your instruments of justice and love in this world, that it may be on earth as it is in heaven.
