Hi Western,

Welcome to the August edition of the Western Earth Carers Newsletter.

Nabilla, Amy, Gabrielle & Rebecca

Earth Carers Course

If you haven't already joined the gang, come along to the next earth friendly, waste free Earth Carers course! We can help you get your ‘Rs’ into gear (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recyle)! Our free and friendly course starts on Wednesday 11 September. The course goes for five sessions (over three weeks) and will teach you practical ways to reduce waste at home, school or work. We will:
  •  Take tours of a composting and recycling facility, a landfill, community hubs and gardens
  • Get intimate with waste -  your waste and Perth’s waste
  • Demonstrate worm farming, composting and Bokashi
  • Give green cleaning ideas and share ways to declutter and simply life
  • Explain safe ways to recycle or dispose of tricky items like electronic waste, batteries, fluorescent globes and chemicals

All welcome! Click here for the full program and for further information please call (08) 9384 4003 or email rsvp@wmrc.wa.gov.au

Plastic Free July wrap up (or unwrapped, as the case maybe!)

Congratulations to everyone who participated in Plastic Free July 2013. It was bigger than ever with over 3,000 individual participants, 96 businesses and 18 schools participating. Every continent was represented! Here in the office, we were continually inspired by stories rolling in thick and fast from participants - THANKS! Rebecca has written a wrap up blog including just some of those stories. We will continue to post on our Facebook page because as one participant said  'I want to continue and do another plastic free month, and another and another...' The good news is, you can!
