Upcoming sustainability events
Earth Carers at Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC)
Earth Carers have been busy at PLC running a tailored high school course. The girls have been elbow deep in rubbish audits, donning hard hats for a tour of the DiCOM and mixing up home made toothpaste, deodorant and lip balm (see photo below). As part of the course PLC hosted a public screening of Bag It and the girls had challenges to complete e.g. visiting an op shop, cooking a plastic free meal or using FreeCycle. They are now (hopefully) completing their final challenge for PLC's Arts Day. One of the girls commented:

"It (the course) has had a big effect on me and has caused many small lifestyle changes that I will encourage others to make. I am talking to Mrs Anderson (Middle School Principal) about ways to make the Cafeteria plastic-free."

Earth Carers staff thoroughly enjoyed working with these caring and intelligent young women and we can't wait to go back for a visit next term to see how their final projects went!
Plastic Free July
When you get to work and your colleague, with a twinkle in her eyes, declares, "We've gone viral!" you know you're doing something right! Plastic Free July (PFJ) has take off this year with 265 sign ups and 400 Facebook followers. PFJ was featured in four newspaper articles and a letter to the editor (thanks Judith!). There have been hundreds of 'likes', 'shares' and 'tweets' on social media. Rebecca was interview by Geoff Hutchison on ABC 720 radio.

It's not to late to sign up to do the last couple of weeks or even a day! See our events below and join us for PFJ events.

Here is Nabilla with her home made, plastic free rice milk! Check the Facebook page and our website for other fantastic ideas and recipes.
