News....

Subiaco Street Party

We had a great time with our bin champions and auditors at the Subiaco Street Party at the end of April.  The end effect was that this 36,000-strong event sent 37% of its waste for recycling. The normal percentage of waste recycled from such events is 0%.
Great work, everyone - we hope to do more of this!

Cottesloe Balloon Ban

After attending the Tangaroa Blue Source Reduction Workshop we arranged in February, Cr Boulter from Cottesloe was successful in getting balloons banned at Town of Cottesloe's own events and at those approved by the Town.  Congratulations Cr Boulter and Town of Cottesloe!
Despite what you may think, balloons take years to decompose, particularly in the marine environment.  Plenty of time to cause death and injury to marine birds and animals.

Earth Carer in action - Ditte Eden

Ditte did the Earth Carers course way back in 2011.  Recently she got in touch to share her experiences "... my partner was going to take the garbage bin up to the street for rubbish collection when he came back saying it was empty.  I checked our bin under the sink.  It was half full..."  Read more on her blog here including 10 steps she's taken...
