Randy Lambert ’76, Maryville College head men’s basketball coach for almost four decades, has announced that he will retire from coaching at the end of the 2018-2019 season – his 39th at the helm of the program. Raul Placeres ’06, who played for the Scots from 2003 until 2005 and has served as Lambert’s assistant for the last seven years, will become the College’s head coach for men’s basketball next spring, and Sharon Wood ’83, director of athletic training, will serve as interim associate athletics director for 2018-2019. Astor Contributes to Book

Dr. Aaron Astor, MC associate professor of history, wrote a chapter in the recently published book, The Greatest and the Grandest Act: The Civil Rights Act of 1866 from Reconstruction to Today. Read more about his chapter, which is based on research he conducted for his book, Rebels on the Border: Civil War, Emancipation and the Reconstruction of Kentucky and Missouri, 1860-1872.

Bruce Receives Research Grants

Dr. Tricia Bruce, MC associate professor of sociology, has received grants from the Louisville Institute and the Appalachian College Association to support research on “church conversions,” or physical spaces that transition from religious purposes into non-religious purposes. Read about Bruce's current research, as well as other research that has recently gotten national attention.

2019 Alumni Award Nominations
