MC Board of Directors names new Chair, Vice ChairTom Bogart introduces new board leadership

Dr. Mary Kay Sullivan and Charles Wright began their terms as Chair and Vice Chair of the Maryville College Board of Directors – the College’s governing body – on Oct. 27. The new Board Chair (the 19th person to hold the position in the College’s 197-year history) is also the first woman to serve as Chair of the Maryville College Board of Directors. Kemp to Retire

After more than 20 years of incredible service at Maryville College, Vandy Kemp, VP and Dean of Students, is saying it’s time to retire. A farewell is scheduled for Dec. 9, and donations are being collected for a fund in her name that would support professional development for staff. Visit the MC website for details.

Holiday Events

Six MC music ensembles will perform during “A Maryville Christmas” on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Clayton Center for the Arts. Prior to the concert, alumni and friends are invited to a Christmas Open House from 4:30-7 p.m. in Willard House, hosted by the Blount County Alumni Chapter. Tickets are also on sale for "The Hot Sardines: Holiday Stomp," scheduled for Dec. 2 at the Clayton Center for the Arts.

Veterans Day

MC will observe Veterans Day with a luncheon scheduled for Nov. 11, featuring retired U.S. Army Captain Claude Abbott as the guest speaker. Members of the Tennessee National Guard’s 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion will also set up a static display of vehicles and equipment in front of Pearsons Hall. Read the press release.

Homecoming 2016

Maryville College alumni came “Home to Howee” to celebrate Homecoming 2016 during the weekend of Oct. 21-23. The weekend included something for everyone: a Homecoming football victory, the Harvest Crafts Festival and Bake Sale, parade, Decade Bash, reunions, children's activities, choir performances and awards ceremonies.
