MC Ranks Nationally


This year, Maryville College is again enjoying recognitions and ranking from various national publications.
 
From Washington Monthly to The Princeton Review, Colleges of Distinction, Forbes and U.S News & World Report, the quality of the College's educational programming continues to garner attention. The recognition of these publications is certainly worth reading about.
 
Additionally, in this issue of Scot-e-News, you'll find information about this year's very impressive giving by the College's reunion classes, as well as about the upcoming performance of Handel's Messiah and MC Theatre's Macbeth is the New Black.
 
Also, the College's men's and women's basketball teams have both been picked as No. 1 in conference preseason polling!

Reunion Giving

Maryville College's National Alumni Association held its annual meeting and reception Oct. 3, providing an opportunity to recognize the reunion classes’ impressive fundraising efforts. Gifts from the Class of 1949 through the Class of 2009 totaled over $521,000. Read more about the reunion classes' extraordinary efforts.

Macbeth

The Maryville College Theatre Department will present Macbeth is the New Black Nov. 13-16. A contemporary remake of the Shakespearean tragedy, the play is set in a girls' juvenile detention center in East Tennessee and has a cast of 21 actors. Messiah

Members of the Maryville College Community Chorus, the Maryville College Concert Choir and the Orchestra at Maryville College will join forces to perform Georg Friederich Handel's musical masterpiece, "Messiah," on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. For tickets, contact the Clayton Center for the Arts’ box office at 865.981.8590.

Basketball Season

Basketball season starts this Saturday, and both the men's and women's teams have been picked as No. 1 in polls of the USA South Athletic Conference! The season is sure to be an exciting one; get more details about the 2014 men's team and women's team!
