Thank you to Brigitte!
As above, our Chair over the last four years of the Grey Lynn 2030 Trust, Brigitte Sistig has left the organisation to move onto a new chapter in her life.
The Trust and Grey Lynn as a suburb are eternally grateful for the enormous amount of time, energy, effort and enthusiasm Brigitte put into the community. She has been an immense figure in the growth of the organisation over the past four years, helping us to obtain three years of funding in a row for a paid coordinator, introducing notable projects such as Trash to Trade, Repair Cafe and most recently the extremely successful Cup Project.
Her continued efforts and infectious passion for Grey Lynn 2030 Waste Away, in particular has resulted in our community being more engaged than ever in reducing waste and diverting unnecessary single-use or repairable items from going to landfill! Brigitte was also the driver and editor of the 2018 publication, A Decade of Positive Vision and Practical Action, which highlighted the history to date of the organisation, and stands as an important documentation for Transition Towns throughout Aotearoa and beyond.
Further, Brigitte worked tirelessly in a heavily involved COVID-19 response, running numerous initiatives helping our community (and enlisting them) to get through the difficult times during lockdown last year.
Thank you, Brigitte! You will be sorely missed.
