First Topic TitleThe End of the Year is a Time for Reflection

As we come to the end of 2010, we at NOVACES look back and give thanks for the sacrifices that America's service members made throughout the year. More than half of the NOVACES team members are also veterans and we are especially proud of our efforts to improve the healthcare processes of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps by using Lean Six Sigma and process improvement best practices.

While we helped Navy Medicine to improve many of the same processes that we do for our civilian healthcare clients: pharmacy and lab cycle times, OB appointment access, coding, and inventory management for high cost immunizations to name a few, we are also very proud of our efforts that are very specific to military healthcare. Working with our Navy Medicine partner, we helped improve the way Corpsmen are trained and streamlined the process to transition deployed reservists back to their civilian lives. We helped ensure that the medical facets of military readiness contributed to the overall capabilities of the force to deploy.

NOVACES is honored to be trusted by our clients to help improve the delivery of care for their patients. Our work this year with Navy Medicine will always hold a special place in our memories and in our hearts as we continue to make our own small contribution to the nation's warriors.

Improving Core Measure Scores Using Lean Six SigmaAvoid 10 Common Performance Improvement Mistakes
Part 7: We’ve Saved Millions!

In previous issues of this series, we have explored the importance of linking performance improvement endeavors with organizational strategy, obtaining leadership buy-in, decision-making based on data and analysis, and the appropriate scoping of projects and events. Even with all those things in place, there is one common mistake that can cause a deployment to fizzle, falter, and fail. All PI deployments have one factor common: the expectation of quantifiable, measurable results.
