Having just arrived back from WCBF’s annual Lean, Six Sigma and Business Performance Improvement in Healthcare Summit in New Orleans, I can freshly recall the stories of various hospitals' unique experiences with Lean Six Sigma implementations. Some had just begun; others had been working on it for three years or more.

It’s exciting to hear how organizations have successfully used a methodology that NOVACES believes in so deeply, but I realized in the midst of all the achievements, there were also obstacles that had to be overcome to make it really work.

Meet Vickie Kamataris,
Senior Business Consultant & Healthcare Master Black Belt

Vickie KamatarisAs a registered nurse with more than 20 years of clinical experience, Vickie brings a real-world healthcare perspective to the table. As the NOVACES Master Black Belt for Navy Medicine, Vickie provided Lean Six Sigma expertise and leadership to develop and guide Lean Six Sigma deployment strategies, lead complex, enterprise-level projects and events, and mentor Master Black Belt candidates at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, National Naval Medical Center and Naval Health Clinics. Today, she works with various different healthcare clients assisting them to advance their performance improvement capabilities.

She has extensive experience as an educator, has presented at national and international venues, and has authored journal articles and papers on a wide range of quality-related topics.

Vickie is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, National Association for Healthcare Quality, the American Society for Quality and the International Society of Six Sigma Professionals.

My hometown is:
