Room for All - Fall 2016
Hey folks! Sorry for the repeat message of our Fall 2016 Newsletter. The version you received this afternoon had some links that weren't working properly. This should fix that!
-Room for All
While I was growing up, my grandparents had a large pumpkin farm in Southern Iowa. This time of year, as leaves start to change and the box of sweaters gets hauled out of storage, I'm reminded of that place: "corn shocks" and apple cider, funny looking gourds and pile upon pile of gorgeous pumpkins.

It could be easy to sit back with something (ahem, everything) pumpkin-spice flavored and enjoy crisp leaves and bonfires and forget so many things happening in the world right now, but not this fall. Room for All has a lot of exciting and important stuff coming up, and I'm proud to be a part of it!
Over the next several months, the 44 classes of the Reformed Church in America will be voting on two particular recommendations from the General Synod of 2016; one would make marriage between "one man and one woman" constitutional and the other would require consistories to patrol that. Obviously, it has serious consequences for LGBTQ people in the RCA and those who love them. Room for All continues our commitment to our mission of support, education and advocacy for the full welcome and affirmation of LGBTQ people in the RCA. It's never been an easy job, but we're not giving up.

As you'll see below, Fall 2016 is busy for us. While a lot of it is worth celebrating, we need your help, too: see below for information on our ongoing Miller Fundraising Challenge; check out the orange box at the bottom for my contact info to host a workshop for your church; and as classes begin to take up the votes mentioned above, please continue conversations with your pastors and congregations. Make sure they know why LGBTQ welcome and affirmation in the RCA matters to you, and help us continue the gospel work of creating a place of welcome and affirmation for all God's children in the RCA.

RfA is delighted to announce that Rev. Deb Jameson will be joining the staff as our new bookkeeper! With years of experience in nonprofits in the NY Capital Region, we look forward to the wealth of knowledge she will bring. We also share our deep gratitude for Rev. Rob Williams (current bookkeeper, treasurer and former board president), who will be retiring at the end of this year.

Thank you Rob, and welcome Deb!
