Happy Birthday!

Anxiety Solutions for Kids: 50 ways to ride the wave is one year old this month.

According to the National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (Summary of Results, 2007, 4326.0, Canberra) anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia. The results showed that on average, one in four people will experience anxiety at some stage in their life and in a twelve-month period, over two million Australians will experience anxiety.

Children, as well as adults, experience anxiety—whether it is a response to particularly challenging circumstances or a generalised, free-floating habit of worry for no apparent reason. It's really handy to have a few simple, fun worry-busting techniques up your sleeve.

How Parents can use Anxiety Solutions for Kids is a popular blog post providing useful tips on using this resource with children.

Picture This: The Secret Meaning of a Cosy Bar or a Busy Bee

At Innovative Resources we never tire of hearing about new and creative ways that Picture This is used.

Why is it so popular?

Possibly because of the large number and variety of photos within the set, or maybe because there is always at least one card you can choose in relation to a goal you might have, a place you might have been, a memory, or as a metaphor for where you are right now.

What is the secret meaning of the plane flying close to the power lines, the roller coaster or the busy bee?

Enrolments taken now for Strengths Approach to Practice.

'This course is for anyone seeking to build respectful, inclusive, strengths-based, power-with ways of working with people. It captures the essence of the strengths approach drawing from years of experience in the field, including early work at St Luke's, Bendigo, Australia. It mirrors the practice frameworks articulated in the book The Strengths Approach (second edition). It will equally be useful for anyone seeking to refresh their understanding of the strengths approach. I highly recommend this course!'

St Luke's Innovative Resources, 2017

NOTE: This course qualifies for 28 OPD (professional development points) for ACA members.
