DG Team Club Visits

The district governor's team, DG Jim, 1VDG Lynn, and 2VDG Kathy are planning visits to all District 39W clubs. Each club will be visited by at least one of the DG team but will most likely receive 2 or more visits. If you have a special event, project, or charter night that you would like District Governor Jim to attend (or Lynn or Kathy), please contact the team using the contact info at the top of this newsletter.

DG Jim is focusing on "Empowering Youth" this year which will be the theme of the Midwinter Convention. Speakers at the convention will be presenting on involving youth in service and speaking about projects that benefit youth.

LCIF Campaign 100

LCIF chair PCC Dennis Burks would like you to know that Lions are still in the middle of Campaign 100 with Lions Clubs International Foundation.  He would be more than happy (ecstatic?) to visit your club to talk about this amazing project. Contact Dennis at or 208-599-0271.

Peace Poster Contest

The postmark deadline to send Peace Poster entries to the district for judging is November 15. If your club is mailing a poster, please contact 1VDG Lynn as soon as possible to let him know to expect your poster. If mailing, place the poster in a mailing tube and mail to VDG Lynn Johnson, 2715 Autumncrest St., Caldwell, ID 83607. We'll post the winning poster online and in next month's newsletter.

On November 13, Idaho Governor proclaimed November 2019  Eye Donor Month in Idaho. Several Lions along with Envision staff attended the reading of the proclamation at the Idaho State Capitol.

November is also Diabetes Awareness Month, with November 14 designated nationwide as World Diabetes Day. Are you wearing blue?

Join Together

Have you heard about the Join Together Program? This is a Lions Clubs International special program to encourage community nonprofit organizations to join Lions as a club or branch. Certain requirements are waived such as the new member entrance fee and the community organization benefits from being a part of the world's largest service organization, having the respected name of Lions, and having liability insurance. If you know of a local service group that could benefit, you can find information on the LCI website.

Notes from the editor

If you are a club secretary or president, it's your responsibility to share the newsletter with your club-the mailing list does not, unfortunately, include everyone.
If you are not on the mailing list and want to be added, use the subscribe link or contact me directly. Snail mail available on request.
If you have club events, news, photos, speakers, projects to share, please send to me or to your zone chair for publication. Have a flyer? Send that, too. I can't make up enough stuff to fill the newsletter, although I try.
Publication is the 10th; deadline to submit news is flexible, but end of the month is preferred.
Comments, suggestions, complaints-always welcome!
