Instructor Spotlight, 2019 Lessons, Leagues, and other things!

Dear <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>,

Warm Springs and Quail Hollow Golf Courses were closed much of February due to snow covering the courses.  The recent rain has melted all of the snow and allowed the courses to open!  Please call the course regarding conditions, riding carts may not be allowed if conditions are too wet.

Instructor Spotlight - John Russell

John Russell is an PGA Apprentice at Warm Springs Golf Course.  John is working toward full PGA Membership by completing a series of courses.
John grew up in Boise and started golfing at a very young age, taking lessons at Warm Springs Golf Course at the age of 5.  John was raised in a family of golfers, and has always enjoyed playing golf with family and friends.  While John attended Boise High School, he was a member of the Boise High golf, basketball and football teams throughout his high school years.
John enjoys working with junior and adult golf students.  In addition to giving lessons, you will find him running the  Warm Springs Junior Golf Teams, the Junior Golf League, as well as running all of the Warm Springs Men's Association tournaments and twilight leagues.  John also handles the scheduling and operations of private golf tournaments that are held at Warm Springs.
John likes to focus on the basics of grip, stance and posture with all students.  For more advanced golfers, he and the student discuss where the student wants to focus the lessons (putting, chipping, sand, etc.) while still checking that the basics are in good form.  John likes to use alignment aides and drills during lessons.
To prepare for the upcoming season, John stresses that flexibility is important.  He likes yoga as a way to increase flexibility.  John suggests that golfers ease into the season; keep the driver in the bag for a while, focus on 100 yard shots to get power back and avoid injuries.
