YEAH DAWG!

It's Friday! Aren't you excited?! Can't you feel the electricity in the air?! Another week is in the bag and it's time to do weekendy things! Like lay around in sweatpants (which in our house are called "quitters"), eat chocolate, watch TV, maybe make an impromptu trip to the spare bedroom just for a change of scenery...OH THAT IS EVERYDAY FOR THE LAST WHAT FEELS LIKE 10 YEARS!!!

But I gotta be honest...I'm not minding so much today. There are a lot of ups and downs on the old emotional rollercoaster lately and I will come clean about something: I have written a couple of extremely upbeat sounding Vegan High Five issues while ACTUALLY feeling pretty far from upbeat. I'm not saying I lied to you, dearest, I'm just saying a couple of times I KIIIIINDA faked it till I maked it.

I tell you that to tell you this: Today I am positively bubbly. Why, you ask? Not a clue. I've lost all sense of what makes me feel one way or the other these days, so I'm just rolling with it. Usually when I find myself in a particularly unexplainable good mood I use a lot more swear words. I will try and keep that under control as I write this issue, but be warned: when I'm feeling full of life, the potty mouth usually accompanies.

Now let's get to the effing goods, shall we? -JOSH

1. BULLHORN LEGEND

No bigs, just day drinking by the front window with A BULLHORN IN YOUR LAP waiting for the neighbors to stroll by so you could spring into action and express all your love and hopes and fears to them. Tracy, never stop Tracying.

2. THE 7 PM SALUTE

Everyday at 7 PM we go outside and make some noise (link is to video) to salute the essential workers who are keeping the world going right now. We undervalue so many segments of society and take so many people for granted who we absolutely rely on. When this is all over, let's not forget about these wonderful people.

People are doing this all over the world. Some nights we don't hear anybody else, some nights we can hear folks from blocks away banging on pots and shouting. It's a beautiful time of day and a great chance to wave at neighbors and reconnect with the people around us. -JOSH

3. WE DID A THING!

Krysti had a brilliant idea to make masks. Our friend Lindsay (@sewveg on the gram) is an incredibly talented sewerizer. Our friend Wendy is a nurse who also co-runs Odd Man Inn Sanctuary (@oddmaninn on the gram). Michelle and I have a big bin of archived Herbivore designs as well as a stack of unsellable but perfectly fine shirts.

I THINK YOU SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING! IT'S OK IF YOU DON'T, I HAVEN'T REALLY GIVEN YOU ENOUGH INFORMATION TO CONNECT THOSE DOTS!

We got the shirts to Lindsay who sewed up a big bunch of masks, we sold them on our site and they got snapped up QUICKFAST and all the proceeds were donated to Odd Man Inn to support Wendy and the critters. We were so proud of our little team and it felt SOOOOOO GREAT to send off that thousand dollar check.

Tip of the hat to all of you out there who are finding ways to be helpful in big and small ways during THE CURRENT SITUATION. -JOSH

4. HIGH FIVE SAD SONG PLAYLIST

Last night we sat around the table drinking wine (Josh and Michelle) and Booch (Ruby) taking turns picking our favorite sad songs to play. Get this, IT WAS REALLY FUN!

How is that even possible? FUN?! PLAYING SAD SONGS?!!!?

Well it was, I'm here to tell you, and I recommend you try it. It was a great way to share how we are all feeling and talk about our emotional states in these weird ass times.

I made a playlist out of most of the songs that I remembered, go listen to it! -JOSH

5. BEAUTIFUL EMPTINESS

Since lots of the world is stuck at home, there are some beautifully quiet scenes outside. I'm totally mesmerized by these empty street videos!

San Francisco

Mumbai

London

New York

Portland

Buddies, we hope you are getting through this ok. We hope you are finding some peace and quiet and time to reflect. We talk a lot about what changes we want to make and keep once this is all over and we return to a functioning society. It's possible to find some positive aspects in all of this (though if you can't, we get that too, some people are having a much harder time than others.) Either way, we hope you are safe and healthy. Keep in touch! -JOSH & MICHELLE
