2010 is going be a great year for parks and public spaces. The Green Grand Rapids Master Plan is in its final stages and ready to be approved as an amendment to the City Master Plan. We are beginning plans for our second annual, citywide park spruce-up event “I LOVE GR PARKS TOO” in May. And I believe that some substantial park projects are going to move forward in 2010 in neighborhoods deficient in green space. But most of all, I’m looking forward to working with the creative and energetic people that are coming alongside this organization to find real solutions to declining revenues and increasing costs for operating city parks. 2010 is going to be challenging, but also full of opportunity.
