Arbor Day Tree Planting at Riverside Park - April 26th,27th

Join in planting trees in Riverside Park to protect the Grand River watershed and increase our city's tree canopy.   We moved the original planting location to higher ground last week and scale back the number of trees, so we will have a follow-up planting date on May 11 as well.

No previous tree planting experience necessary!

Volunteers from BLEND, Meijer, Association of Grand Rapids Landscape Professionals, Bank of America, Americorps, Wolverine Worldwide, Consumers Energy, Cascade Engineering, Encompass, Goodwill Industries, Home Depot, Ferris State School of Pharmacy, and ITC will help plant trees over the two day event.  The trees are sponsored through a US Forest Service, Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant awarded to Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, with additional  support from the City of Grand Rapids, DNR, Quimby Walstrom & Boise Aspen Premium Recycled Paper and the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. Thank You!

Despite  some cancellations due to weather, many volunteers were able to help get a jump on Spring in local parks. Thank you to all the volunteer groups that have helped so far in April: FishbeckThompsonCarr&Huber, West Leonard CRC, Harrison Park Middle School, Calvin Plaster Creek Stewards, and City High/Middle. If you want to volunteer, set up a neighborhood Parks Alive Leadership (PALs) for your local park,  or sponsor park improvements, please contact our Project Coordinator to set something up.
