Be part of the plan!
The City of Grand Rapids and Friends of GR Parks will be engaging neighborhoods in helping create concept plans for 8 local parks this fall. VIRIDIS Design Group, and their team from Lott3Metz, Williams & Works & Nederveld, will be working on validating existing concepts for Cherry, Wilcox, Westown Commons, and creating a new concept plan for Roosevelt Park. And Progressive AE will be creating concept plans for Fuller, Garfield, Lincoln, and Highland Parks.
Each park has a Neighborhood Planning Team that includes residents, stakeholders, and a representative from the Parks Advisory Board to help provide initial input, feedback, and communication with neighbors. Each park will have a public open house or design charrette in late October or early November to gather additional input from neighborhood stakeholders and the broader community. We will be setting up events on our calendar as those meeting dates, times and locations firm up. So if you want to participate, please check the website, or one of the specific park links below, that will take you to that park's concept planning page.
We will be posting meeting notices, relevant documents, concept drawings, and background information so people can stay informed on the progress and decisions for the various parks.
The goal is to wrap up the planning process by Thanksgiving and host a public meeting so the community can see all 8 plans together.
