Welcome new staff to FGRP!

Fall is a time of transition here at Friends of Grand Rapids Parks as we welcome some new faces to our team.

Rachel Skylis (far right) is joining us as our Program Coordinator for our volunteer efforts and our Parks Alive program. Originally from the "thumb" area, she is excited to enjoy life on the west side and explore all that Grand Rapids has to offer! She graduated from Michigan State University and has a background in outreach and community program creation.

We also welcome Yiovanny Cornejo (far left) to our team. He will be our liaison and connect very close with the inner and outer neighbors of Grand Rapids. Yiovanny has a passion for growing the Grand Rapids community's commitment to parks and trees.

If you want to connect with these fine folks, head over to friendsofgrparks.org for email and phone numbers.

Big crowds and excitement for parks and trees!

August was full of fun events that brought people out to raise awareness and support for our work for parks and trees.

Thank you to everyone that attended the 4th annual Green Gala. We had our largest crowd ever, and received an amazing response from attendees and sponsors. If you missed it, check out these photos of the event.

Downtown Grand Rapids, Inc and Friends of GR Parks wrapped up the sixth, and final night, of the Movies in the Park Series with a record crowd at The Sandlot and Jurassic Park.  A huge thank you to everyone that made this summer one to remember at Ah-Nab-Awen Park.

If you just couldn't get enough of outdoor movies, we will be celebrating the close of the Brewers Grove Project with a special screening of Strange Brew on Sept 12th at Riverside Park.
