Once
again, the Friends of Grand Rapids Parks and City of Grand Rapids will
be seeking nominations for Mayor’s Tree of the Year through our tree map.
Learn how to map a
tree or view
the video and nominate your favorite tree for Mayor's Tree of the
Year.
Nominations will be
accepted for the entire month of May. The City’s Urban Forestry Committee will
select a nomination for Mayor’s Tree of the Year at their June 12th
meeting.
This year, whomever
nominates the winning tree will receive a $150 Merrell gift card and be invited to
participate in the Mayor’s Tree of the Year ceremony later this summer.

Thank you to everyone that helped out in parks
and events this month. In addition to great neighborhood
participation around Roosevelt, MLK, Dickinson Buffer, Heartside,
Cherry, Wilcox, and Ken-o-Sha, we also had several service and
corporate groups volunteer cleaning up parks, planting trees, and
building awareness about our community's great park resources.
Thank you
to Davita, Young Nonprofit Professional Network, Living Word Christian
Center, JW Marriot, Boston Square Community
Bike, Grand River Preperatory Academy, Assoc. of Grand Rapids
Landscape Professionals, Roosevelt Park Neighborhood Association,
and Consumers Energy.
