Tri-County Action Program Newsletter Winter 2017
The Promise of Community Action
Community Action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
A Letter from the Executive Director

As Tri-CAP begins our 52nd year of providing essential services to the communities of Stearns, Benton, Sherburne Counties, I am honored to be part of this organization that impacts the lives of so many. Our Board of Directors, community partners, and staff work hard to provide programs that empower families and transform our community.
Our theme this year is about impact and how we, as a Community Action Agency, create and sustain impact in the communities we serve. The word impact means to “have a strong effect on someone or something.”
This year we are called to look forward with the certain knowledge that we will continue to create impactful moments for low-income families and the community. Every year we face new challenges, which allow us to discover strategic ways to address local poverty by supporting programs that create economic opportunity and strengthen self-sufficiency. As a Community Action Agency that is designated to serve people in need, we embody the spirit of hope, improve communities, and make America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
Whether looking back or looking forward, our supporters and partners have consistently been at the heart of our work. Together we will continue to impact people in need, local businesses, community partners and the region as a whole.

Two highly impactful programs we are highlighting in this issue of our newsletter are the Tax Program and Outreach Program. I invite you to read on and learn more about these programs and how they impact clients and the community.
As we begin our new year, I remain grateful for the impact you have made to Tri-CAP as well as your friendship, your kindness, and your generosity. If you are a new friend of Tri-CAP, I invite you to join us by sharing your time, talent or treasure to partner with Tri-CAP in our work of promoting self-sufficiency among all the residents of the communities we serve. With your support, we will continue to help people and change lives in Central Minnesota.
Best Regards,
Lori Schultz, LSW
Executive Director

Tri-CAP Outreach

Tri-CAP's Outreach Program has been operating for just over one year. Started for the purpose of bringing Tri-CAP's programs and service information to communities beyond St. Cloud, where Tri-CAP has an office in Waite Park. Tri-CAP Outreach Specialists conduct outreach in Elk River, Big Lake, Foley, Little Falls, Paynesville, Melrose, Sauk Centre and more. They reach out to underserved populations, sharing about the services of Tri-CAP and assisting individuals with applications to gain program access.

Tri-CAP Outreach employees have an understanding of all Tri-CAP  programs. They are available for individual consultation providing program information and referrals. Distributing program brochures and applications, Tri-CAP Outreach Specialists spend their days meeting with individual clients, making group presentations, tabling at community events, building partnerships throughout the counties, and sharing information at community food shelves. All of these activities are undertaken to increase the access of Central Minnesota residents to the programs and tools that Tri-CAP offers to help individuals build their self-sufficiency.

If you would like help getting access to Tri-CAP, feel free to call our office at 320-251-1612 or 888-765-5597 and ask the receptionist to connect you with the Outreach Specialist in your area.
Please consider making a tax-free donation to Tri-CAP today. Your gift is an investment in the programs that help low-income residents of Central Minnesota as they work toward financial self-sufficiency.
