News from the College of Business
I hope the start of 2017 is already proving to be a happy, successful venture for all of you. At the College of Business, we celebrated the end of the first semester with our December graduates, and we welcome them as our newest alumni. We look forward to staying connected to our new graduates in many ways, including this e-newsletter, our fall and spring alumni magazine, Prospectus, and through the many events we host each year.
For the second year in a row, we were the presenting sponsor for the Business Record’s annual Book of Lists Unveiling Event, January 5. Please enjoy the article and photos shared below. We look forward to sponsoring this again in January 2018!
I’m excited about the momentum surrounding our new CEO Speaker Series, which we launched in October. This is a unique opportunity for students, and is something not offered at all business schools. The word spread that students must come early, because the 300-seat lecture hall fills up quickly. With the high demand of these lectures, we now live-stream and record them for those who are unable to attend in person. Our goal with the CEO Speaker Series is to create opportunities where CEOs can connect with our business students. Each lecture provides a forum where CEOs can share their path to the top, and inspire students who are preparing for their careers. Students also have the opportunity to ask questions and meet the CEO.
We have had been fortunate to secure some of the most successful CEOs, including Dan Houston (’84 business administration – marketing), CEO of Principal; Jim Yong Kim, president of the World Bank; and Stan Askren, chairman, president, and CEO of HNI Corporation in Muscatine, Iowa. We look forward to bringing you more high-level events.
As always, we welcome visitors, alumni, and friends here on campus. Should your travels bring you to Ames, or across town, please stop in to see us.
