Dear Friends,

We are pleased to launch our Department of Accounting newsletter. We have great news to share about the College of Business and the department. When the U.S. News & World Report rankings came out this fall, we were pleased to see that our College of Business undergraduate programs moved up in the rankings to 77th overall among AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited programs, up from 80th last year.

Every year, the accounting department at Brigham Young University (BYU) ranks accounting programs’ research productivity. Our department’s most recent rankings are:

  • #53 or 8% overall in accounting research output (out of 433 listed schools)
  • #4 in accounting information systems research
  • #23 in experimental accounting research

Student placement for our college and department remains strong. For 2014-2015 (our most recent survey), 97 percent of business students and 98 percent of accounting students were professionally engaged within six months of graduation.

This newsletter highlights the personal and professional achievements of some of our alumni. It also tells about some of the opportunities that our students have for engagement with the profession, both outside and in the classroom. Finally, we present news about our faculty and their achievements.

We are grateful for the time you spend interacting with our students and faculty, as well as your financial support of our programs. These ensure that we can prepare our students to be valuable members of your organizations and ultimately become leaders in the accounting profession and in business.

William Dilla
Associate Chair of Accounting and Finance
