As I’m writing this, I’m sitting on my balcony watching my neighbors ride their bikes and roller skate. Spring is finally here, and I can’t wait to check out all the events Indy has to offer this season!

One of the things I like to do when the weather is nice is yoga. Luckily for me, there are many yoga events this spring just 10 minutes from my house in the heart of Eagle Creek Park. Peace Through Yoga, a studio that offers classes at Peace Learning Center has many activities for the Spring season. One activity I’m looking forward to is the yoga and drumming session happening this May. It’s a yoga class where West African style Djembe drumming accompanies your flow. Also, Peace Through Yoga offers other workshops as well at various locations, including a chocolate, wine, and yoga workshop, on April 20 - Any excuse to eat chocolate is a good one in my book!

I really love to dance, and I’m glad I found a place that oozes positivity as I bust a move. Owned by Kyle and Nadia, the Latin Expressions Dance Company (LE) offers classes in the heart of downtown Indy. Vast windows line the studio, providing you with a view of Indy’s skyline. Also offering salsa classes Thursday nights at the Jazz Kitchen, LE is always doing the next big thing in dance. So imagine how excited I was when I found out that LE is bringing world-renowned award-winning salsa dancer and instructor, Magna Gopal, for its Spring Fling workshop this year! The event will be a day-long dance workshop taught by Magna Gopal on April 27.

As much as I try, I can’t make it to every event in town. However, if Tripz Ent is hosting an event, you can bet your last dollar that I’ll be there. Tripz Ent is the only event planning organization in Indy that brings African DJ’s and cultural events to Indy’s downtown nightlife. CEO Emmanuel Olofinka created the company to “change the way people had fun in Indy.” Mission Accomplished. At Tripz Ent events, I see people from all cultures and ethnicities, and their DJ’s always trigger my inner dancing queen. My first experience with Tripz Ent was an event that brought celebrities (and even NFL players!) from Nigerian-American backgrounds. This month, Tripz Ent is hosting an A-List Celebrity who’s performing making a stop in Indy as he tours America. The Naeto C concert at Caribbean Village is set for Friday April 19, and will be attracting concertgoers from all over the Midwest.

So Happy Spring, Indy! The snow has melted. People are outside doing what they love the most, and with all the activities Indy has to offer, I’m sure we will be too.
