MEET OUR SPECIAL GUESTS
Caroline Sankara is the Executive Director of Akili Dada. She is passionate about people-focused solutions that improve on their disposition for impact and success. Her reflections are set on the clarity that women before her have achieved; women who sacrificed and withstood tremendous resistance in various decision-making spaces across the continent and globally ― in board rooms, in institutions, in market places, and at various community levels. Sankara’s leadership is guided by her belief in the inherent power of women and girls, which she exemplifies in both her personal and professional journey. Her journey has taught her that leadership is anchored in authenticity, consistency, fortitude, and credibility, fostered from within the strength of the human spirit. She envisions a world where women and girls are a part of integral decisions that shape all sectors.
Wanjiru Mbugua is a Programs and Partnerships Coordinator at The Action Foundation. She is an avid believer in humanity, passionate about human rights, gender equality, social justice & inclusion, and development agenda. Her experience with various organizations that she has worked with in the past such as Volunteer Services Overseas, Research Triangle Institute Intl have entailed community organizing work. She is passionate about women empowerment, gender issues and women rights, governance and community organizing work. Working with women initiatives, and in women-led organizations, and being a teen girls mentor has asserted the concept of ‘shared womanhood’ for her. She believes that we are in an age where women world over are organizing for their emancipation in all spheres of life; she is glad to be living in such a historic time and being a contributor is shaping this new dawn for women and girls.
Nsofwa Petronella Sampa is the founder and Executive Director of Positive Movement Zambia. Positive Movement Zambia aims to drive a positive change in the hearts and minds of those in our society to accept and include people living with disabilities and/or HIV in Zambia. They serve as a conduit for sharing meaningful stories of individuals affected by disability and HIV and provide a solid platform to raise awareness, advocate for access, and collaborate strategically with key social institutions to improve the lives of all members of our society. After discovering her health status as being HIV positive, Sampa began to advocate for persons living with HIV/AIDS. She is a 2017 recipient of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, a civic leader, and a HIV and disability rights activist.
