Farewell Jim Moffett and the Great Jones Cafe

 Great Jones Cafe has been serving great food and drink in NoHo since 1983. I went there so often, I bought the place in 1989. Sometimes I say I bought it twice, Jim Moffett.
It will not re-open; the space is available for lease.

Showfields Signs NNN Lease With RFR For 11 Bond Street

Showfields is a direct-to-consumer retail outlet created by Tal Zvi Nathanel, the founder of the Bluestone Group and MyCheck, a mobile payment system. Showfields will “play host to the world’s most innovative brands, according to their website.
Lafayette St. Planter Update

On July 23rd we met with Cordelia Person of the NoHo Bid about the Lafayette St. median planters.  It is agreed that the geraniums will be replaced by perennials in September. See more about the suggested plantings.
Safety Issues on Cooper Square Plaza 

On June 4th Councilmember Carlina Rivera convened a meeting among a broadspectrum of community stakeholders to address vehicular and pedestrian safety issues on the Plaza as well as the need for monitoring Plaza use.

The Bowery Mural Wall

Internationally-renowned visual artist Tristan Eaton has put his unique spin on New York City’s historic Houston Bowery Wall owned by Goldman Global Arts. Entitled “Intermission,” the expansive outdoor mural boasts Eaton’s signature collage-like imagery of pop subjects. Coverage at Hyperbeast.

  • Merchants House Museum:  The onorous application for a zoning change and the two special permits they needed to begin construction next door was defeated at CB#2 and by Borough President Gale Brewer.  It will be heard, again, at the City Planning Commission on August 25th.  In the meantime The Merchant's House is taking legal action.  Read more here.
