Hi all, I hope it’s been a long hot summer where you are because where I am it’s been, well, changeable I suppose you would say!
However change seems to be the current theme of things all round at Optimec, and, unlike the weather it’s been positive change. Some of you may remember that last time I wrote about the change of ownership at Optimec. Well, Martin Richards & Andrew Perkins of Xitek Ltd, the new owners of Optimec have certainly not wasted any time in getting to grips with the Optimec operation. Several areas of the production process have been reviewed and early benefits of the application of new technologies are already coming to fruition. High on Xitek’s list of priorities is new product development and I am delighted to say that things are also moving forward at some pace on that front. Further announcements to come in future issues of this newsletter I am sure.
Have you got your 2011 diary or wall planner yet? If not don’t worry but just remember one important event – 12th – 14th May, 2011 Barcelona – The 38th EFCLIN Congress – Don’t Miss It! More details here.
|TC20i Controlling Temperature For Years, And Years……
Optimec’s Temperature and Filtration Control instrument, the TC20i has been around a lot longer than some might realise. Although early instruments were nowhere near as sophisticated as the current fully digital model they were certainly built to last….and last! Recently we have seen some 20 year old examples back at our workshops which, following a bit of routine maintenance and a little TLC are back with their owners giving more faithful service. Unfortunately it’s not always like that. Occasionally we find one of these “old timers” to be un-repairable by virtue of us being unable to get hold of obsolete electrical components. However, in these situations we are always happy to offer attractive discounts of the price of a new “all digital” TC20i.
Introducing The Dokumator Convertible!
Excuse the play on words but many of you will be familiar with the old Zeiss DL2 Dokumator (and the many copies thereof). Whilst its no JCF, it seems from the number of these old instruments still in use that it holds a special place in many hearts!
We have recently had several requests from Dokumator owners who were looking for either greater magnification, smaller on screen images & also larger on screen images. As optical engineers we have been able to produce a variety of compound objectives which have “converted” the old Dokumators to their new applications – Result? Minimal outlay – Lot’s of busy Dokumators and many happy customers!
EFCLIN Annual Congress – The Industry Under One Roof?
