First of all let me say a big thank you to all those of you that came and visited our booth at the 39th EFCLIN Congress & Exhibition during May. We found it to be an excellent event and on a personal level it was nice to be able to put some “faces to names” that I have come to know during my time at Optimec.

We had a very busy show and much of our time since the event has been spent following up on the many inquiries for further information and quotations etc. If there is something you need to know about our product range please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Traditionally around this time many of us will now be turning our attention to Summer holidays – however, I and the team at Optimec have been a little pre-occupied with the latest EMC testing standards applicable to CE marking. I’m pleased to say that all Optimec instruments we submitted for testing passed with “flying colours”. So, as well as having the best soft lens measurement instrument in the business you can now be sure that it complies with all the latest safety standards too!

We also seemed to cause something of a stir at the EFCLIN Congress with the prototype version of our new all digital measurement platform. Like to know more? Call me personally on +44 (0)1684 892859 or you can use my personal e-mail address crichards@optimec.com

Lots more to tell you but it’ll have to wait for the next issue I’m afraid.

Enjoy your Summer,

Colin Richards

Now That’s What I Call An Annual Congress

Those were the words of one delegate overheard when leaving this year’s EFCLIN event in Budapest.
An event the team from Optimec was very pleased to be part of. As well as meeting many customers, old and new it was a valuable opportunity to hear the high quality lecture content with its focus very much on the future of our industry. Our very own Dr David Sheerin also took part in the lecture programme for the first time and delivered an interesting paper on emerging metrology within the contact lens industry. The exhibition also gave us an opportunity to showcase the complete product range from Chiltern to JCF as well as the eagerly waited unveiling of the new digital temperature, sanitizing & filtration control instrument, the TSC3. We were able to give our customers a very “illuminating” display as all instruments on show were fitted with our new LED based “light engine” (see below) There was also a great deal of interest in the prototype digital measuring platform……more on that later. In the meantime if you would like further information on any aspect of the product range just call +44 (0)1684 892859 or e-mail us on enquiries@optimec.com.

The LED Light Engine – Power Up Your Lab

With a brighter, whiter light giving far greater contrast and enhanced edge & feature definition Optimec units equipped with the new LED Light Engine really do make a difference. Now fitted as standard to new JCF , JCM, SAG and Chiltern the unit is now also available as a “retro” fit to these instruments as well. However, the on screen image is only part of the story. A reduction in energy consumption from 35 to just 6W plus a longer lamp life (typically by a factor of 7) makes the LED Light Engine an even more welcome development. In addition users will notice a significant reduction in cabinet temperature with the move away from the old dichroic style of lamp that will most likely be noticed by the lack of saline evaporation from the cell.

All in all the LED Light Engine is the “bright” choice. To find out just how bright just call +44 (0)1684 892859 or e-mail us on enquiries@optimec.com

TSC3 – Get The Low Down

Imagine if you could have the saline in the cell of your instrument maintained at any specific temperature within the range of 15 – 40 Degrees Centigrade. Imagine too that you could have that same saline continuously filtered to ensure it was free from particulate contaminants. Then try to imagine all that plus a UV based system that ensures the saline is kept free from microorganisms. That would make a pretty useful instrument wouldn’t it? How about if we said that all those features were available in a unit that’s compatible with JCF , JCM & SAG instruments AND that was just a few centimeters high and was positioned underneath your instrument thereby saving you bench space as well! We did more than imagine it……we built it and it’s called the TSC3. Like to find out what it could do for your lab?..... call us on +44 (0)1684 892859 or e-mail us on enquiries@optimec.com
