Maybe I'm a little late but you'll excuse me if I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year. If your 2012 is anything like the one that we have lined up at Optimec then I can say with a good degree of confidence that you are going to be pretty busy! In a busy year like this keeping people in touch with what's going on can be a challenge in itself - but at least we have a variety of methods on offer. Firstly there's this newsletter. Please feel free to pass it along to anyone you think might be interested. Those of you that are active on Twitter might like to follow us through that medium. Just type "Optimec" in the search box of your page…or click the link below. The same applies if you are more of a Facebook person. A simple search will find us, but again, you can click the link below to "like" us if you prefer! Anyway, some interesting items in this issue and, as always if you would like more information on a particular topic, click the links, drop us an e-mail or give us a call.

Bye for now,

Colin Richards

Operations Director

2012 - Time To See The Light - LED Style

Operating with the principal of "continuous improvement" means that instrument manufacture at Optimec is ever changing.
However, one thing that hasn't changed in a long while is the light source at the heart of your instrument. Until now that is. Recent advances in LED technology mean that we have been able to incorporate this kind of light source into our instruments for the first time. Very soon Chiltern and JCF instruments will be rolling off the production line equipped with LED light sources which, amongst other things will give your instrument a minimum of 5 times the expected lamp life when compared to the normal 35w Dichroic lamp.

Know What's Inside Your Instrument?

We keep the workings of our instruments as simple as possible and for very good reason - it's a tried and tested method that delivers the required results so why over complicate things?

That said, if you saw you favourite JCF say, or Chiltern under construction you'd probably be amazed at the number of components required to build it. All the more important then that following our recent annual audit Optimec were accredited to the full ISO 9001 - 2008 Quality Standard. Amongst many other things it ensures absolute traceability of all components used in every instrument that we build. Now that's what we call an assurance worth having. EFCLIN - The Perfect Shop Window

Time is running out if you want to book your place at what has become the most popular meeting place for all those in our industry - the EFCLIN Congress & Exhibition. This year's event takes place from the 10th-12th May in Budapest, Hungary.
Optimec will  be exhibiting a range of instruments but if there is something particular you would like to see e-mail us or call +44 (0)1684 892859 and let us know. You can find all the information you need about booking your place at the congress here. Act quickly and you'll still qualify for the "early bird" discounts on the registration price.

Old Instrument? Don't Write It Off Just Yet

There comes a time in the life of any device when it's just, well, too old. That might be true of many things in this modern world of ours but perhaps not when it comes to Optimec instruments. We continue to be amazed by the age (and condition) of some of the instruments that we receive back at our facility for repair and refurbishment. What's even more amazing is that our Technicians can (with the odd exception) breath new life into most of them and get them functioning as new again. Heard the phrase "they don't make em like they used to"? Well, that certainly doesn't apply here at Optimec. Got an old instrument you would like to see up and running again?  e-mail us on enquiries@optimec.com or call +44 (0)1684 892859.
