In recent days we have witnessed the horrifying killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd. We also watch as COVID-19 exploits the racial disparities in our country, disproportionately killing Black people. These days, as the Apostle Paul wrote, are evil.
Tomorrow evening at 7:00 your pastors will lead a time of prayer and lament. We will create a space for those who wish to voice their lament. We will pray for our neighbors and those among us who bear the brunt of this nation's white supremacist terror. We will anticipate the Spirit's presence in our anger, grief and fatigue.
Holy Spirit of the living God, meet us today. Protect those who are vulnerable. Agitate those who are complacent. Be a consuming fire. Be refreshing water. Be a battering wind against the evil that surrounds us. Amen.
